I get as much joy from looking at a beautiful rug as I do from looking at pictures, ceramics or sculptures. I'm talking about hand made rugs of course. There is an amazing amount of skill, both in the actual technique of I am particularly fond of Caucasian rugs made in the Soviet era. This is a Seychour Cross rug, with gorgeous colours and a complex design. I have Shirvans, Kubas, Perepidils also. The colours shown here are typical of Caucasian rugs. Modern Kazaks, mostly produced in Afghanistan, also use these colours and patterns, particularly the Shirvans. |
